INTRODUCTION
Our class begins wStudent Portfoliosith a brief introduction to Photoshop's image editing tools. As the students get familiarized with the tools they will design a banner for their digital portfolio that employs a variety of art elements and principles. Samples of their works may be found in the student portfolios.

'Scary' Pancakes
Students refined their skills in Photoshop by creating a surreal image of scary looking pancakes. |
Visual Puns
In this project, students used advanced digital manipulation tools in Photoshop to combine 2 or more images to visually illustrate an everyday pun. The design should reflect the use of the Principles of Balance, and Emphsis in a work of art. |
Zoo Flyer
Students learned the columnar and modular layout techniqes and applied it to compose a flyer that announces the opening of a new exhibit at a local zoo. Other elements and principles considered in this project are: color, contrast, shape, balance, emphasis, and repetition. |
Cereal Box Design
This was a project-based learning whereby students used the elements and principles of design to create a cereal box design aimed at a targeted audience. Students complete daily journals and learned software tools as they created the design. |
