beginning animation
The goal of this course is to provide students with a fundamental, theoretical, as well as practical understanding and experience with working in computer-aided 3D animation. Students will work with Autodesk Maya as well as Photoshop, and iMovie. It begins with a basic introduction of 3D space and software interface. Students learn about creating simple objects; applying materials, and lighting them. Then students will also explore basic animation and rendering techniques.. The curriculum is composed of four 9-week sessions of lessons and tutorials with a focus on project-based learning. Activities are designed to teach students fundamental, artistic and technical skills; along with design and animation principles. This focus on design gives the students the opportunity to apply artistic and technical skills acquired during their regular coursework. The pre-requisite for this class is completion of either a Art Foundation, Drawing, or Painting class.
